Description
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky hill above Athens, Greece. It contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. Most of the monuments were built in the 5th century BC under the leadership of Pericles. The Acropolis was heavily damaged during the Venetian siege of Athens in 1687, when an explosion destroyed much of the Parthenon.
Entrance
Tickets are valid for entrance only once. Last entry is allowed 30 minutes prior closing.
